This is just a rough idea on making the meetings more efficient. I'll post this a s a Word document to the files section of the new Yahoo group, based on Robert's suggestion of forming a specific agenda for meetings to post prior to meetings.

Catering? lol, pretty lofty.

We need to have a continuity supervisor as well. This is an overlooked, underappreciated job, but it's extremely necessary to help look good. Basically, we need to find someone who's so anal retentive they're turning brown, and they pay attention to the set and clothing, etc, to make sure that everything is in the same spot, and whatnot between takes. It helps to have a polaroid or a digital camera and a laptop as well.

This job might possibly be combined with the script supervisor.

Good point. And, we have two types of continuity to keep track of. The technical type, to which you refer, and canonical continuity, making sure we don't violate any established continuity on the series. Matt's been basically doing that as script editor, but he may need an assistant for instances where he's either busy on set or unable to attend a shooting due to work or other obligations.

Normally, I'd be a good choice for that, but as the writer and actor, I need someone looking over my shoulder making sure I don't conveniently dismiss something. I just need to find someone who can take that position now.

...actually, both.

Really, once shooting begins, the script should be solid enough(at least the part that we're shooting on that day) that we don't need someone going over it while we're shooting. When it comes to that point, it's really too late to be making major changes.

no, the on-set script checker is actually pretty vital. They're generally in charge of making sure that what needs to be gotten is gotten. They're also in charge of schedually, KEEPING on schedual, and letting everyone else know what the fuck is going on so the director is free to do his job...direct, not babysit.

That sounds exactly like the description for the first Assistant Director and his PA bitches.

shake. assistant director does what the director needs, that's his job. They can overlap, but his most important thing is helping the director with stuff, not keeping everyone else on task. And HIS bitches are basically "Hi, we have extra money and you suck up good. Want a job?"

Nah, generally PA's are interns. Interns work for free for experience. Hooray bitches!

As for assistant director:

yes, he helps the director, which is what I said initially. The director needs a shooting schedual and the ad does that. THe ad makes sure that people right below him know what's going on, and the script supervisor keeps ahold on everyone else, makes sure they (meaning actors, cameramen, sound, lighting, blah blah blah) are all on the same page at any given time. You might shot a scene on page 3, then jump to 113, then back to 75. The ad has this written down, but he can't be expected to run around to everyone else making sure that they are doing what they're supposed to be doing since he hs other stuff going on. You need another person to go and tell those other easily over 20 people what's going on. Also sometimes things go last minute, the ad needs a way to let everyone know (the backup plan that was mentioned in that link) and again, that's where the script supervisor comes in.

In this type of production, they easily can be the same person. In a bigger one (over a dozen people on set) then you need to have a clear chain of command and that's where he falls in.

Yes. Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. "In a bigger one". I'm talking about the film we're doing, not the one we wish we were, lol

Makeup! I almost forgot. Chelle is going to school with a guy who's major is in makeup. She passed on his number to me, but I forgot to jot it down before deleting texts, so I'll have to get it again, however I think we may have our makeup department there. :)

We'll need to give him a test drive.

Let's see if he can make me look good... if he can pull that off, he's Tom Savini incarnate! ;-)

Seriously, if you can get in touch with him, see if he's free Sunday.
